New music video – Which Will

New music video!

Here’s my version of Nick Drake’s timeless ‘Which Will’.

Nick’s music has been an influence on my own right from the start and this song is one of my favourites.

Enjoy 🙂

Pale Jacket feature

My song ‘Pale Jacket’ is featured on Fiona Beddow’s Words and Music show. Pretty cool!

I recorded the song back in 2014 with a great line up of guest musicians. ‘Lemonade Sea’ was also recorded during the session.

Lemonade Sea – Live at Goldsithney Charter Fair

Here’s a live performance of my original song ‘Lemonade Sea’ filmed at Goldsithney Charter Fair 2017. Featuring Sue Aston on violin.

‘Lemonade Sea’ is available on iTunes now http://apple.co/1x4cbcf

New song featuring Judas Priest-style screams!

NEW MATERIAL!! Here’s a clip from a new song that I have written, ‘Lay Down The Law’. It’s not completely finished, but it’s notable for featuring some Judas Priest-inspired metal screaming. After singing along to a lot of Priest and Glenn Hughes in my car, I decided to have a go at some high octane notes myself! This is the result. Crank it up for the full metal meltdown effect.

The recording process of my first full-length solo album is AT LAST nearly complete. There are 12 songs and they’re all pretty varied musically. I’ve found it really hard to decide between continuing down the Waiting For The Call rock path (as I have with this song here) and sticking with the Way Home/Lemonade Sea acoustic style. Ultimately, I’ve elected to embrace both sides!

More clips and updates to follow shortly  I’ll share some soft stuff next to balance it out a bit.

Sue Aston – November Skies video

I’m very proud to be part of this beautiful piece of music and equally amazing music video from my mum Sue Aston. I played some guitar and produced the ‘Winter Keys’ EP from which this tune is taken from. Awesome job with the video by my dad Phil Aston.

Guitar Solo Audio Clips

NEW MUSIC! I’ve taken a different direction musically recently as you’ll be able to hear from these snippets below. The strat is back out and I’ve gone electric…

Here’s an audio preview for a couple of upcoming songs, ‘Waiting for the Call’ and ‘X Marks the Spot’ which are both still being mixed and having final bits recorded. These are two guitar solos that I’ve been working on recently. Enjoy!

New recording: Do I Wait

New recording! This is a cover of one of my favourite songs, ‘Do I Wait’ by Ryan Adams.

All instruments played and recorded by me. Click here for a free download:http://bit.ly/20MpksN

I’ve always loved the honesty of the lyrics in this one. Let me know what you think of it! Stay tuned for some more recordings coming very soon…

Live concert replay

You can now catch the replay of my live online show from yesterday!

The template differs from previous shows featuring a panel of special guests (Azlin Bloor, Nazim Beltran, Sheila Strover), live music (inc. 2 new songs & Sue Aston on violin) and in-depth discussion about my musical influences.

Big thank you to everyone that tuned in and to Phil Aston for producing!

Lemonade Sea lyric video

Featured on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio Cornwall, my latest single ‘Lemonade Sea’ has now got a new lyric video!

The song is about reflecting on past times and is named after the shimmering effect the sun gives against the ocean. Featuring Sue Aston on violin and members from jazz band Endangered Species, the song is brought to life by some beautiful instrumental playing.

I hope you enjoy it!

Watch 2nd Aston Family Show

I had an amazing time performing as part of The Aston Family Show on Sunday. The show was cross-produced in the US and Cornwall and had a great panel of special guests.
I’m still finding it strange to come to terms with the overwhelming reception these shows have received so far, and how many people have connected to my family’s music around the world simply from us performing at the end of our living room!
You can check out the recording of the show below which features a couple of my own songs, ‘Way Home’ and ‘Pale Jacket’, along with a great set of other original Aston material.
